What is so special about players that reach legend?

When I was stuck in silver I never put much thought into what makes a Hearthstone player good. I would occasionally catch a few tournaments happening on Twitch, and soon noticed that the same players would show up and play in multiple tournaments and consistently do well. I thought that they had a kind of talent that I didn't, a kind of talent that got them to the level of skill which they were at. 

Many people fall under the trap of thinking this way, of thinking that talent is what decides whether they can be a great player or not. I must admit, talent does play a part, but its impact is much less than what people believe it to be. At least in Hearthstone, that is. You don't need much talent to play Hearthstone, especially when compared to other multiplayer games out there such as League of Legends, Valorant, or the recently released Overwatch 2. All the "talent" you need for Hearthstone is the ability to sit and think about what cards you want to play. With the right guidance, anyone can learn to make correct decisions and increase their win rate, enough to the point in which they can consistently reach legend.

You will occasionally get unlucky, you will occasionally get outplayed, you will sometimes go on long losing streaks, but that is all part of the climb. There is no great Hearthstone player out there who has not experienced all of the above. What's important is that you don't give up and keep learning, because as long as you are willing to do just that you will gradually improve over time. There is nothing special about players that play in legend except for the fact that they spent hours and hours on the game and constantly improved, whether they knew it or not. So if you ever doubt your ability to reach legend, just remember that you can do it as long as you are willing to look for mistakes that you are making and fix them because that is what matters, not talent. You will start recognizing your mistakes and learn from them. If you can play a game without making a mistake, you would have played a perfect game. If you are capable of playing a perfect game, that means you can play streaks of perfect games. If you can play streaks of perfect games, your win rate will skyrocket and you will climb exponentially faster.
